Authorship Criteria

Authorship Criteria

Indonesian Economic Review

1. General Principles of Authorship

Indonesian Economic Review implements an authorship policy to ensure that every individual listed as an author has made a scholarly contribution for which they can be held accountable. Authorship reflects intellectual contributions to the research and preparation of a scholarly work, rather than merely academic qualifications, structural positions, institutional affiliations, or administrative support.

Authorship must be determined transparently and fairly, with the agreement of all contributing parties. All authors are responsible for the integrity of the article submitted for publication and the article as published.

2. Authorship Requirements

Individuals listed as authors must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the research, data collection, analysis, or interpretation of research findings.

  2. Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Approve the final version of the manuscript for publication.

  4. Agree to be accountable for the integrity of the work and to assist in resolving questions concerning the accuracy or validity of any part of the research.

Individuals who provide only funding, research facilities, administrative assistance, language editing, or general supervision without meeting the authorship criteria are not automatically entitled to authorship. Such contributions may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section with the consent of the individuals concerned.

3. Author Contributions and Order of Authors

Each author must provide accurate information about their contributions. Diligentia encourages the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to describe individual contributions, including conceptualization, methodology, investigation, data curation, formal analysis, writing—original draft, writing—review and editing, supervision, and funding acquisition.

The order of authors must be determined by mutual agreement among all authors and based on their scholarly contributions. The journal does not determine author order based on academic degrees, positions, seniority, or institutional status.

4. Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  1. Submitting the manuscript through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

  2. Ensuring that all authors have approved the manuscript submission.

  3. Communicating information regarding the peer review process, revisions, and editorial decisions to all co-authors.

  4. Ensuring the accuracy of author identities, affiliations, email addresses, and article metadata.

  5. Coordinating responses to questions concerning research integrity before and after publication.

The corresponding author is not solely responsible for the quality and integrity of the article. These responsibilities are shared by all authors in accordance with their respective contributions.

5. Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or change the order of authors after manuscript submission must be submitted to the editor in writing, accompanied by a justifiable explanation and the consent of all authors concerned.

Changes to authorship after publication may only be made through the appropriate editorial procedures, including the publication of a correction notice where necessary.

6. Prohibited Authorship Practices

Diligentia does not accept the following practices:

  • Gift or Honorary Authorship: Listing an individual as an author without a qualifying scholarly contribution.

  • Ghost Authorship: Failing to acknowledge an individual who meets the authorship criteria as an author.

  • Authorship Manipulation: Improperly altering the author list or order of authors for a particular purpose.

  • Providing false information regarding authors' identities, affiliations, or contributions.

Allegations of authorship misconduct will be addressed through clarification and investigation in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy and the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

7. Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies

Generative artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot meet the requirements for academic accountability. Authors remain fully responsible for all content generated or assisted by such tools.

The use of artificial intelligence that substantially influences manuscript preparation or research analysis must be disclosed transparently in accordance with the journal's policies.

This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to Indonesian Economic Review.
